she was given a pen with which she was able to move ink on paper and the movement flowed in a natural direction…

                                                        -from a dream, October 1995

Inscribed: the art of births, deaths and marriages celebrates the 'natural direction' that has evolved since my dream many years ago.  Having spent the most part of this time working on public and private commissions; 'moving ink on paper' creating over 100 marriage certificates, known in Hebrew as Ketubot and other commemoratives of significant events in the life cycle.

All images have been created as a result of inscriptions on copper plates; photo-polymer plates; hand carved lino-blocks; and wood blocks. I utilise this printing process in a very personal manner, making associations with the Hebrew Scriptures and weaving them through a narrative, distinctly Australian in its character. Most of the editions number 18 (Chai) which, in Jewish numerology, signifies 'LIFE'. The art of births, deaths and marriages is not only about these significant events in our lives, it is about the essence of Creation…the eternal cycle.
